Video Proof on HHO Gas and How to Run Your Car with HHO Gas

June 5th, 2008

hho gasI get alot of questions and inquires about is it really possible to convert a car to run on HHO gas commonly referred to as browns gas. While the answer to the question is Yes, explaining or giving insight into how to convert and run a car on water is more difficult. The other day I came across this great video that not only shows the power of running your car on water but actually shows the HHO gas conversion kit in operation.

I think it really helps to show a great solution to getting an increase in car fuel economy and helping to save the enviroment all at the same time. Read the rest of this entry »

Green Air Filters, Eco Friendly Performance Air Filters for Your Car Increases Car Fuel Economy

May 16th, 2008

green air filtersWe all love our cars, but if you keep your car long enough and are vigilant with regular maintenance which would include changing your are filter at least once a year you might not be as environmentally friendly as you believe. North America’s landfills are loaded each year with millions of car air filters, and yet there is an environmentally friendly way to achieve oneness with nature and help to ease the overflowing garbage we dump into our landfills.

You can replace your car’s disposable air filter with eco-friendly green air filters. Green air filters also known as performance air filters, are a true “green” solution. In fact these performance car air filters are green as well, now that’s what I call going green. All kidding aside, replacing your car’s old air filters with green air filters have several benefits,

Facts on Global Warming, Is Global Warming Real?

May 7th, 2008

what is global warmingThe common question that gets asked a lot these days, both in the classroom and by those genuinely interested in our environment is, is global warming real? To answer that question properly we need to look at answering the question what is global warming? By doing so it will help us to develop our own list of facts on global warming so we can make our own informed decision on whether or not global warming is real.

What is Global Warming?

Simply put global warming is the warming of the Earth’s temperature. This applies both to the Earth’s surface temperature and to the Earth’s air temperature. Read the rest of this entry »

The Advantages of Geothermal Energy, the Largely Unknown Green Energy

April 25th, 2008

advantages of geothermal energyGeothermal energy is a renewable green energy source that is largely unknown. Mainly because the more popular green energy choices like wind power and solar energy seem to get a lot more press. However does that mean geothermal energy isn’t a valid green energy choice? Of course not, the main reason why geothermal energy doesn’t attract much attention is due to the capital costs associated with setting such a green energy system up. We are trying so hard at developing other green energy choices that we seem to be ignoring one of the biggest free sources of energy that runs our entire planet, namely heat. Without the heat generated by our planet I don’t much if any life could abound. If that is the case then what are the advantages of geothermal energy? Well before we answer that question let’s answer this one how does geothermal energy work?

Geothermal energy is the process of harnessing the earth’s thermal energy (heat) and converting it into electricity. The Earth has four main layers, as is shown in the picture below. Each layer within the earth has different compositions and temperatures as the picture illustrates. Since heat radiates outwards some of that heat is held by nearby rocks water and earth. In fact up to 40% of the suns rays get absorbed the earth and then release that energy at night.

Go Green with Renewable Energy Certificates

April 24th, 2008

Renewable energy certificatesHave you ever thought about powering your home with renewable energy but find it too expensive? Well you not alone, for most people the ability to go green just isn’t very practical due to the high costs associated with converting over to solar or wind power green energy.

What alot of people don’t know is that is possible to go green with renewable energy at a fraction of the cost. How? the answer is simple, go green with renewable energy certificates.

Renewable Energy Certificates (Recs) are also known as ‘Green Tags’  or “Tradable Renewable Certificates”. RECs are a great way to support environmental concerns by associating with renewable energy such as wind and solar. They are typically sold in kilowatt-hours or megawatt-hours. While Renewable Energy Certificates are not electricity per se, they have the same environmental effect as buying green energy electricity.

Advantages of Homemade Windpower

April 23rd, 2008

homemade windpowerRising fuel costs and global warming are on everyone’s mind nowadays but for most people finding practical green energy solutions is difficult. A good cost effective solution for green energy is windpower.

There are a number of advantages to generating homemade windpower. First, it produces no pollution or greenhouse gases making windpower a great green energy solution. Second, it is renewable, and so long as the wind is blowing you can harness its energy. Third, the wind is found everywhere, in every country and in every climate. The wind knows no bounds and so can be a reliable energy source. Fourth, if harnessed properly windpower can produce more jobs and economics then all the other energy platforms.

Using the wind to harness energy from our environment is hardly a new concept. Ancient Persians are believed to have been the first group to use windmills to turn grain grinding machines. The Dutch, of course, are also famous for their windmills and so on. In modern days, however, wind energy platforms are much more refined and used primarily for energy production.

The idea of wind power generation is not new. Ancient Persians first saw the advantages of wind power by using windmills to turn and grind their grains. The Dutch, of course made the symbol of windmills famous and today we can create green energy by generating homemade windpower.

Installing Solar Panels on Homes

April 21st, 2008

home solar panelsThe advantages of solar energy as a means of powering our homes, is a great way to reduce our high energy costs. It helps to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and taps into the power of renewable energy. Something we all should be concerned about nowadays. The problem however is the high costs associated with converting over to renewable solar energy. It can costs upwards of tens of thousands of dollars to convert to solar energy, something a lot of people see as being not very practical.

While it is true the costs of home solar panels, inverters, batteries and arrays can be quite high there are many ways to help alleviate and offset these costs making it more practical to convert to renewable solar energy.

Most states and provinces offer tax breaks for those people willing to install solar panels on homes. I don’t know anyone who doesn’t like tax breaks, so if you’re thinking of converting to solar power, looking to into what tax benefits your state or province offers should be your first step.

The Advantages of Biodiesel

April 21st, 2008

advantages of biodieselThe notion of using biodegradable fuels for the average person seems a bit more like alternative fuel solutions for the scientist rather then for the everyday average person. Most alternative fuel solutions have a lot of development still to be worked out in order for it to be cost effective enough for the average consumer. However there are biodegradable fuels readily available now, for the average person that can help reduce emissions and can also be made at home. That fuel is called biodiesel.

The advantages of Biodiesel are it burns much cleaner then regular fossil fuels, is made from renewable energy sources and can actually be made from items found in your very own kitchen. Biodiesel contains no petroleum and as a result it is environmentally friendly. It is made using vegetable oil, alcohol, and lye, all of which are renewable energy sources and so when you power your car with biodiesel you are using a more green friendly fuel source.

The other advantages of Biodiesel are if you have a vehicle that runs on regular diesel then you can run that same car on Biodiesel without any modifications. That’s a great option for those people looking for renewable energy sources that are cost effective for the average person. Will biodiesel be the answer to all our fossil fuel problems? Hard to really say, we have really only just begun to look at alternative fuel solutions. So it is impossible to gauge what technology we might discover in 10-20 years but the advantages of using biodiesel today are far too many too be ignored.
